So today I have to double post I have been wicked busy and haven't had a chance to sit down and do this today until now. So now I'm here, I got some music going and I am ready to blog Goddammit.
Ok so as I mentioned here in the "I Called You Fat!" blog my blood pressure is a little messed up here is a rough idea of what i am shooting for.
"Blood pressure readings vary, but in general your blood pressure should not go above 130/80."
So I have a blood pressure cuff here at the house and I gave it a shot today, the results were discouraging 180/90. The thing is I don't know if I'm doing it right, so tomorrow I'm gonna check it again once by myself and once at one of those monitoring stations you see at the pharmacy and grocery stores, fingers crossed I'm restarted and doing it wrong.
Also I'm fasting for more blood work tomorrow morning. Shit.

Doctors visit today, fun fun.
So my doctor basically confirmed that I'm a old man, in addition to the Diabetes meds I now have to take Lisinopril for My shockingly bad Blood pressure. I wonder what kind of side effects could I wind up with, taking Lisinopril.
"Lisinopril
Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:
Hives, severe stomach pain, difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Feeling light-headed, fainting, urinating more or less than usual, or not at all, fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms, tired feeling, muscle weakness, and pounding or uneven heartbeats.
Chest pain, or swelling, rapid weight gain.
Less serious side effects may be more likely to occur, such as:
Cough, dizziness, drowsiness, headache.
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, upset stomach; or mild skin itching or rash."
Great so worst case scenario I go into anaphylactic shock, and I choke to death on my own tongue. Well that or I wind up with a cough.

So Its Valentine's Day and I had my first real hic-up in the diet.
Me and the wife went out for lunch this afternoon and I learned first hand how fast points add up if your not paying attention. We had went to a Tex-Mex joint called Zuma's the food was "eh" but she was in the mood for something southwestern and who am I to complain. She had the chicken fajita lunch plate which both looked better and was better as far as the diet was concerned but I assumed as long as I kept the portions size down I should be fine.
I was so wrong. I had the two taco plate with rice and beans, my mistake was assuming that I would get authentic tacos at a Tex-Mex joint. So instead of authentic I got some shit right out of taco bell, shredded beef, cheddar cheese, and crispy fried taco shells 5 points a piece plus 4 for the rice and another 2 for the beans, 16 points plus the cup of chili and the appetizer me and the wife split made for a lunch that was roughly ALL my daily points. I tried to make up for it by eating light for the rest of the day now for the first time since I started weight watchers I end my day hungry.
So what have we learned today.
This is good for you.
This is NOT!

A friend of mine thinks she may be having hypoglycemic episodes (passing out) so I am gonna test her blood sugar for her. This got me thinking, Too many of my friends and family avoid going to the doctors. There are always excuses, no insurance, no time, just hating it, and I can sympathize. I waited close to four years before my recent trips. I have been to one doctor or another over then ten times since January and it is really wearing thin on me. with that said, thank goodness I went.

I did cut into My weekly stretch points and activity points but all said and done. I'm still on track.

Baby carrots are a godsend.
So today I was out most the day, I had breakfast at home but I relied on my ability to eat better while I was out. I wound up at a mongolian barbeque place for dinner and despite the guilty feeling in my gut that I was totally blowing off my diet while the wife was out of town I managed to stay on track and still eat a really well.

First Day on the diet without the wife.
My lady travels for work, so for the next few days I am on my own with the non-diet. The good in this situation is I'll be able to go to the gym during the day as opposed to at nigh with her like usual.

Some of you folks may know how Weight Watchers® works and some may not, for those who don't here is a quick summery. You fill out a questionair about yourself (your weight, height, amount of exercise you get a week etc.) and you are awarded a daily point value. In addition to your daily point you also get 35 carry over points, basically 5 points a day you can go over if need be, you are also awarded points based on activity.
The amazing thing about this is, I thought I was gorgeing myself today. It wasn't untill I just logged my results that it dawned on me that I was still well within my diet. So here it is my breakdown for super bowl sunday.

Eating Healthy can be Expensive, but that doesn't mean I'm spending anymore money. Ok, Let me enplane. It boils down to simple math, I'm eating less now so I'm spending less on food even though the food in question is more expensive. I'm also pretty sure that once I have trained myself to eat better I'll be able to cut back on the spending as well.
I figure its like having a baby, the first time your running around buying Huggies® and Loves® and by the second kid your buying cheap-o depot diapers from the family dollar. Right now I'm buying weight watrchers® branded foods but the second bastard child of the weight loss realm is bound to rear its ugly head and save me a couple of bucks in the long run.

Cheating On a Diet.
Ok picture this. I'm sitting around the house Goofing, off playing Bioshock and I get hungry.
I pick up my phone and check the time, half past four in the afternoon. The wife wont be home until like seven thirty, more likely eight, I'll get dinner on the table by eight thirty, Shit I gotta eat something now to tide me over.
This is where if I had been on another diet I would say "Fuck this!" and grab chips, and with that mentality I came into the kitchen and grabbed half a bowl of cold leftover chili from last night, some bread, and a pickle.
Quick note on my ghetto culinary exploits. Most you folks know that I'm the guy from "Starvin' with Louis" I don't wanna give a full history of the show and its origins but i will say that some of that cheap ass food I ate for so long stuck with me and this is a quick recipe for the "Jam" sandwich. (recipe)
Take a slice of bread spread mayo on it thin.Normally this "Fuck it" attitude toward a diet would be my undoing, but it turns out that with Weight Watchers I have enough points to have my half a bowl of leftover cold chili and jam sandwich completely guilt free. This might actually work. I am looking forward to Second breakfasts and double lunches.
Take another slice bread spread mayo on it thin.
Put black pepper on both slices of bread put a third slice of bread between them and "Jam" them together.
